Who will you become?

Graduate programs do a great job of creating scholars, content experts who know Latin American history or recombinant DNA like the back of their hand. In most instances, though, these scholars go to work in colleges and universities where they have to be teachers as well as scholars. Unfortunately, the knowledge it takes to be an effective and confident teacher isn't usually taught in graduate school.

At ipsative our goal is to help faculty—especially those in their first years of teaching—receive the skills, training, and mentoring they need to excel as a teacher as well as a scholar. We do this by:

  • providing resources in the areas of personal development, student relationships, institutional expectations, pedagogical methods, and technological tools
  • engaging in the scholarship of teaching and learning and actively reflecting on the art of instruction
  • supporting faculty through one-on-one mentoring in the early stages of their career
  • offering a series of online training sessions for faculty who wish to grow as educators
